Numbers 22:32-34

³² The angel of the Lord said to him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to oppose you for the path before you is wrong. ³³ The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. Otherwise, I would surely have killed you, but it I would have spared.”

³⁴ Balaam said to the angel of the Lord, “I have sinned. I did not realize that you were standing there opposing my way. If I have displeased you, then I will go back.”
